Three arrested in Uttar Pradesh, including leader of Muslim organization over violence against CCA

Uttar Pradesh police have arrested three persons, including the leader of a Muslim organization, for alleged violence against a citizenship law in capital Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh police said that Wasim, Treasurer Ashfaq and member Nadeem were arrested by the head of the Muslim organization Popular Front of India (PFI).

All three, including the PFI operatives, have been charged with conspiracy to commit violence in connection with the violence in Lucknow against the citizenship law. Police took further action by attacking policemen, inciting mobs, promoting social media, spreading offensive material and injuring people. According to the police, 150 FIRs have been detained till now on this issue.

A case has been registered at Kotwali police station against 31 leaders and 150 SP activists, including Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Viswanambar Prasad Nishad, on charges of violence in Banda in Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party MP alleged that he had made provocative speeches in the district in protest against the citizenship law and encouraged Samajwadi Party workers for violence by holding rallies without permission.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court granted bail to 15 of those arrested on charges of violence in the city's seaport. Police have arrested 15 suspected protesters over the violence in Delhi's seaport. He was produced in court and sought custody for interrogation. The accused applied for bail. The court granted bail to all and sent them to judicial custody.

The court said that the reasons for granting relief to the accused were insufficient and the evidence on which the bail application was made was insufficient. The court asked the police on what basis the accused were arrested? Police said the suspects were arrested on the basis of their stoning and inquiry was necessary as more people were involved. The court accepted the police demand.
