SPG security only to the Prime Minister: Lily of Parliament

SPG Security Status Not Symbol: Amit Shah denies allegations of political corruption

(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. December 3, 2019, Tuesday

The Special Protection Group (SPG) Amendment Bill 2019 passed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. As per the new amendments to the bill, SPG security will now be provided only to the Prime Minister and the former Prime Minister for a limited time.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted the Gandhi family on SPG's excuse. He categorically denied being a political party behind the Gandhi family's withdrawal of SPG security. He claimed that the Modi government was responsible for the security of 130 crore people of the country, not just the Gandhi family.

The Congress alleged that the SPG Act had been amended by targeting the Gandhi family and that the security of the Gandhi family leaders who were victims of terrorism had been compromised by removing SPG security.

When the SPG (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Congress walked out of the House claiming that Home Minister Amit Shah was not satisfied with the reply. Several other parties also supported Congress on the issue. Since the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on November 27, the bill has received a lump sum of parliament.

As per the amended SPG security law, only the Prime Minister and the family living in the official residence with him and the former Prime Minister are staying at the allotted residence and the families living with them will be provided with SPG protection for five years.

Talking about the bill in Rajya Sabha earlier, Amit Shah said, "I want to make it clear that this bill is not brought in keeping with the Gandhi family. The Gandhi family has nothing to do with this bill.

I would like to say that the changes to the SPG law earlier were made only with one family in mind. Security should be enjoyed by all. The government has a responsibility to protect 130 million people. The Gandhi family's commitment to SPG security does not make sense to me. SPG security is not a status symbol.

Only the name of the security was changed, not the level

The Home Minister said that on the basis of the old law, Gandhi's family security review had removed his SPG security. Despite having their SPG protection removed, they have been given Z Plus protection and this includes those who have worked in SPGs, who have received SPG training. In such circumstances only the name of the security has changed. No change in its level.

Indira killed at home, Rajiv would have been jailed: Swami

In the Rajya Sabha, Swami said that I wanted to see former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi alive, so that he could be seen going to jail on corruption charges. On the other hand, about Indira Gandhi, she said that the former Prime Minister was killed in her own house.

They did not go on a tour. BJP MP Swamy welcomed the SPG reforms bill saying it was often said that two people from one family were killed. Indira Gandhi was killed in her house by her guard.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's safety: Sh

During the debate on the amendment in the SPG Act, Home Minister Amit Shah disclosed on the issue of security in Priyanka Gandhi. He said that in the security of Priyanka Gandhi's house, Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra come in without security check.

Security personnel were informed that Rahul Gandhi was in a dark safari. At the same time a black safari cart arrived and in it was sitting Sarada Tyagi, the Congress leader of Kharagora Meerut. As time went by, his car went inside without a security check. This was a coincidence. However, three security personnel have been suspended in the matter.

What is a Special Protection Group (SPG)?

When the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own guard, the need for a central security force dedicated to the security of the prime minister and his family came to the fore. As a result, the Special Protection Group (SPG) Act was enacted in 1988 to provide security to the Prime Minister and his close family.

Under the Act, SPG Group is appointed by the country's central security forces and IPS officers. The group is well-equipped with advanced training and advanced technology and equipment.

Amendment of SPG Bill targeting Gandhi family: Congress

While discussing the amendment to the SPG bill, Congress leader Vivek Tanha said that the main purpose of the bill is to withdraw the security of the Gandhi family.

Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, two members of the Gandhi family, have lost their lives. Tanaka also mentioned the recent incident of some people entering the house of Priyanka Gandhi. There should be no politics on this issue.

During the debate on the amendment to the SPG Bill, Congress got SP, RJD, CPI and your support. Flat MP Ramgopal Yadav said that with the change of the government, security concerns were also changing. Similarly, RJD MP Manoj Jha and CPI MP Vinod Vishwam and AAP Sanjay Singh opposed the SPG amendment bill.
