The case of a pigeon pigeon-holed as a peacekeeper may have been fatal to a man, a hospital in New Delhi reported.
Experts say that the pigeon's womb, after drying out, releases bacteria that can contaminate a person's body parts. This illness is called acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

A doctor associated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said that at least 300 patients suffering from the disease are being treated in various hospitals in Delhi.
The doctor further stated that these bacteria adversely affect the liver, kidney, heart and lungs and can be fatal. Recently, a Delhi-based hospital treated a woman for dying. This was the first such case.
