'No justice for Taliban in Indian constitution'

New Delhi, December 7, 2019, Saturday

Criticizing the Hyderabad encounter, some top retired judges in the country said that such a style of Taliban style could not have a place in the Indian Constitution.

The judges also questioned why the courts were required to do so. Retired judge of the Supreme Court PB Sawant said that such justice was not acceptable. Whatever happens should be done legally. There was no difference between the incident and the crowd.
He said that what the police were talking about was not going to be taken down. This encounter should be investigated.

He also suggested that in such a case, the court should complete the case within three months and declare the sentence so that people's trust in the judiciary can be sustained.

Retired judge of the Mumbai High Court, BG Coles Patil, said that police have no right to impose justice. There are courts to seek justice. The police cannot make such encounters without going to court. The incident should be prosecuted.

Citing an example in favor of his argument, he said that even if a crime was committed in the eyes of the judge, the judge could not give a verdict there immediately. Relatives should have the opportunity to speak for themselves.
