Famous character actor Dr. Shriram Lapu passed away at his residence in Pune this evening due to old age. He was 92 years old. During his six decade long career, he worked in more than 40 Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi plays. The number of films he has acted in is over 100.

His body will be kept at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital for final viewing on Wednesday 18th December. His funeral will be held on Thursday. It was only while he was studying in medical college that he started working in plays.
Then in 1950, he worked for five years as an ENT doctor in Pune. He later studied in Canada and England. In 1969 he started working as a full-time drama actor.
Subsequently, he acted in many films as a character actor in Marathi and Hindi films and won the prestigious award. Originally he was an ENT surgeon. He received important awards including Filmfare Award, Kalidas Samman, Dinanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan's Lifetime Achievement Award.
