New delhi date. December 17, 2019, Tuesday

Opposition has met President Ram Nath Kovind and submitted his demands in protest against the amendment to the Citizens Act and the police charge against the students at Jamia University.

A delegation led by Congress president Sonia Gandhi met President Kovind and demanded an investigation into the amendments to the law and the people involved in the looting charge against students.

About 12 parties, led by Sonia Gandhi, met with the President and demanded an investigation into the atrocities committed against the students. Sonia alleged that the police also entered the toilet and bathroom of Jamia University and looted the library in which several students were injured. Not only Jamia, many universities in the country are being oppressed by students, which is not acceptable.

After the visit, Sitaram Yechury said, "We have told President Kovind that you cannot allow your government to commit violence in this way." We urged President Kovind to advise the government to reverse the law.

Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien said, "We have urged the President to immediately repeal the law, which will affect the poorest of the poor." Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said, "The fears we expressed in Parliament about the law are now coming true."

Violent protests are taking place, we demand that the government immediately repeal this law. There is an atmosphere of fear among the people with this law. This has led to this situation in the country. The President should intervene in this matter and advise the government to withdraw the law.

The parties that joined the delegation included Congress, CPI-M, CPI, DMK, SP, TMC, RJD, National Conference, AIUDF, IUML, while the Mayawati party BSP, who was not involved in the delegation, made it clear that our party was on Wednesday. Separately, he will meet with the President on this issue and present his talk.
