Voting for Karnataka Assembly by-election on December 5

Karnataka Assembly election date has been announced. Voting will take place on December 5 for the 15 assembly seats here.

Karnataka Election Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar today announced the date of polling, saying that the polls will be held on December 5 for the assembly by-elections, while the polls will be held on December 9. The ideal code of conduct for the election will begin tomorrow, November 11.

On the other hand, in connection with the by-elections held at Karnataka's 15 seats, senior Congress leaders had a meeting in Bengaluru, which discussed preparations for the by-elections and the campaigning strategy. The meeting was attended by senior Karnataka Congress leader Siddharmaiah, B.K. Hariprasad, D.K. Shiv Kumar and Dinesh Gundoo etc. were also present.

Petition by rebel legislators to avoid by-elections

The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed by Karnataka rebel lawmakers to avoid a by-election. The group has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to avoid the by-elections, after which the Supreme Court has set a hearing. The rebel lawmakers said in the petition that the Election Commission has issued a notification for voting for the by-election on 17 seats on December 5.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court had reserved its decision on October 25 on the petition of the MLAs disqualified by the then Karnataka Assembly Speaker. Mukul Rohatgi, a lawyer for these MLAs, told the Supreme Court that the process of filing the form for the by-election will begin on Monday, while a decision on the application of his clients is still pending.

These rebellious legislators want the Karnataka Assembly to be not elected by 17 seats, until the Supreme Court verdict, on the other hand, Justice N.K. V. Ramana presided over the Bunche, JD East Karnataka Congress (S) Ineligible MLAs of the affiliated government have been asked to submit their application in the correct format.
