The verdict of the Sabarimala case was halted, a case was sent to a bench of seven judges

New Delhi, November 14, 2019 Thursday

A three-judge bench in the Sabarimala temple case in Kerala was to give a verdict on the reconsideration case today, but the bench said that we have sent the case to a larger bench.

Now a bench comprising seven judges will take up the case and think about it and give a verdict.

Two of the five justices Justice Nariman and Justice Chandchud were upholding their verdict. The remaining three said that we have assigned the case to the larger bench. Now seven judges will handle the case.

Most importantly, the court did not stay on its previous ruling. The court said that the government should decide whether to enforce the judgment we have given. Earlier in Chudaka, the court had said that any woman can go to Sabarimala temple.

Today the court said that we have seen all the review petitions. We stick to the previous ruling. We have also seen the extent to which the constitution has been allowed as far as law and order and morality are concerned.

Now the government has to decide whether the government wants to implement the judgment we gave earlier. The Review Petition was followed by the tradition of hundreds of years.

The court said that the review petition was for women only. Women rights are also involved in such activities as the Parsis Agari, Muslim Mosques and Dargahs. That is why this review was also to be viewed in terms of women's rights.
