The final hearing of Gogoi, the chief judge, struck out 10 notices in four minutes


Bobde to take over as Chief Justice of Supreme Court on May 18

New delhi date. November 15, 2019, Friday

Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who is ruling the Ram Temple case in Ayodhya, is going to retire on 17th.

That led to the final hearing of his term as chief justice on Friday. They also only issued 10 notices in the last 4 minutes of the hearing.

He had already completed hearing of several important verdicts or cases, such as bringing the Ram temple, Sabarimala, Rafal, CJI's office under RTI in Ayodhya this month.

In the meantime he is going to retire this Monday. Following which they held a hearing on the last day on Friday, they could not hold any hearing since Saturday and Sunday in the Supreme Court.

With Chief Justice Gogoi retiring on May 17, Bobde will now take over as Chief Justice on May 18. Bobde is the most senior judge in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, when Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi arrived in the courtroom at 10 am on Friday, the courtroom was packed. Lawyers and other citizens also came in large numbers to hear him.

On the final day, a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Judge Bobde conducted the hearing of the cases involved, they completed the hearing of the case in just four minutes and issued 10 notices to the parties.

Following the process, Supreme Court Bar Association President Rakesh Khanna thanked Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on behalf of everyone. Gogoi later thanked everyone and later departed the courtroom.

On Friday afternoon, Gogoi reached Rajghat at half an hour and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He went to Rajghat even when he became Chief Justice. They also sent greetings to judges and officials of each High Court through video.
