Sri Lanka's new president Gotbaya arrives in India on 29th

Sri Lanka's newly elected president Gotbaya Rajapaksa will visit India on November 29. This will be his first foreign trip since becoming Sri Lanka's president.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited him in Colombo after Gotbaya became Sri Lanka's president and formally invited him to visit India on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A spokesperson for Gotbaya said that Gotbaya had accepted the invitation of the Prime Minister of India and would visit India on November 29 and hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gotbaya became President of Sri Lanka naturally raised concerns in India as the inclination of Gotbaya is pro-China. He was invited to visit India even when Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned him last Sunday to get Gotabaya elected.
