Modi dismisses Overseas Citizenship as 'Divider in Chief'

New Delhi, November 8, 2019, Friday

Writer Atias Taseerun, who appeared as divider in chief to PM Modi, has withdrawn the Overseas Citizens of India card after writing a controversial article in Time magazine ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Home Ministry said in its statement that Tasir had concealed his father's Pakistani origin from his citizenship while applying for citizenship.

It is worth mentioning that Taseer wrote in criticizing Modi's Time Magazine. However, the article also received heavy criticism in India. The magazine then had to publish another author's article in favor of PM Modi.

However, the Home Ministry has made it clear that this decision and article have nothing to do with it. Atish's father Salman Taseer was the Governor of Pakistan. His father was shot dead in 2011 by a security official on charges of sedition.

Taseer, however, said the decision had been sent by the government to the OCI status. Which takes 21 days to respond. However I received this letter on the 20th day. One day I emailed my reply to the Indian Consul in New York. His receipt was also received. However, on November 7, I found out that my OCI was canceled.
