Kartarpur can change face of South Asia: Qureshi

Before the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi said that the purpose behind the Kartarpur corridor was 'goodwill'. The importance of Kartarpur is to break the Berlin Wall and change the face of South Asia. He, however, said that despite the goodwill of Prime Minister Imran Khan's goodwill, India could only negotiate with Kashmir if it changed its policy on the Kashmir issue.

Pakistan's foreign minister did not stop ranting in Kashmir even during a peaceful event like the opening of the Kartarpur corridor. He said that India has not received a proper peaceful response from Prime Minister Imran Khan's honest action. He claimed that Imran Khan has always said that if India goes one step further for peace, Pakistan will take two steps.

Talking to the BBC, he said India was not responding properly to Prime Minister Imran Khan's peace efforts. Nevertheless, we decided to move along the Kartarpur Corridor and Kartarpur Spirit.

He said that this is not just a corridor, but the spirit behind the corridor needs to be understood. However, he emphasized that India's policy on the Kashmir issue could only change if bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries are possible.
