JNU students stand firm against police fees, police register two FIRs

Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have announced to continue their demonstrations for the third consecutive week until their demands are met. Police have registered two FIRs against students who are demonstrating when the demand is firmly in demand for withdrawal of benefits.

JNU's student body on Tuesday demanded that no administrative action or legal action be taken against the students who are protesting against the hostel fee increase. Had a meeting with Hosur.

In addition, the student body said that the three-week demonstration against fee hike will continue till their demand is met. He claimed that the registrar of the university refused to meet the members of the panel formed by the Ministry of Human Resources for a meeting to mediate with the students.

On the other hand, Delhi Police has filed two FIRs in connection with JNU students who are protesting against the hostel fee increase. One FIR has been lodged at Kishangarh police station while the other was registered at Lodhi Colony police station. There was no immediate response from the JNU student body in this regard.

Meanwhile, the JNU administration has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding action against the student unions and the Delhi Police. The JNU administration demanded action against the police for failing to prevent students from demonstrating while prosecuting students under contempt of court.
