Earthquake kills eight in Albania, injuring more than 300


Suspicion of multiple demolitions in the rubble of three buildings

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Albania on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring more than 300. Many buildings were destroyed due to the earthquake, which many suspect to have been destroyed.

This is likely to increase the death toll. Meanwhile, rescue operations have been started by the rescue crew. Excavators are being used to remove debris of buildings.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 was experienced early Tuesday morning in the southern Balkan country. After this powerful earthquake there were some aftershocks. Following the earthquake, another major shock was reported in Sarajevo, also in nearby Bosnia.

There were no immediate reports of damage to the property due to the earthquake. However, Greece and Kosovo have assured Albania of assisting in the rescue operation.

Three buildings collapsed in the wake of the earthquake. Since the earthquake came early in the morning, many people were sleeping when the buildings collapsed. Rescue crews are constantly working to evacuate the trapped people. No information is available on how many people have been buried in the trash.

The US Geological Survey said a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Albania, which was about 30 km northwest of the AP Center Tirana. Away and 30 km At depth, after the earthquake there were several aftershocks, with 5.1 and 5.4 two aftershocks.

Prime Minister Idi Ram said, "In these difficult times we must maintain peace and be with one another." He thanked all the countries who were ready to help.

Ram said neighboring countries, the European Union and the United States had agreed to send aid. He spoke to his Italian, Greek and Turkish Prime Ministers in this regard, and to EU and American embassies in Tirana.
