Congo: 26 killed in plane crash on human settlement

At least 26 people were killed when a plane crashed in a human-populated area of ​​the Goma region of the Congo Republic.

The Congo government confirmed the news. The casualties included aircraft passengers, airline staff and several people on the ground.

The plane, which had 19 seats, crashed in Goma region of Mpondo district, according to a government spokesperson. All the passengers aboard the plane are believed to have been killed.

How the accident happened was under investigation. A spokeswoman for Goma Airport said no person was likely to be killed in the accident. There was a Dornier-228 type aircraft. The plane crashed into a densely populated area near the airport.
