Ban on single use plastic in Indian ships since January

The government has initiated various measures to prevent plastic pollution in the country. Then, the country's Director General of Shipping (DGS) has decided that a ban on the use of single-use plastics will be imposed on Indian ships from January 1. That is, chips packets, plastic bottles, cups, dishes, etc. cannot be used on Indian ships from January 1st.

The DGS has stated that in addition to Indian ships, the ban will also apply to foreign ships entering Indian waters. This decision was made by the DGS under the Prime Minister's Single Use Plastic Ben Campaign.

As per the DGC directive, foreign ships have to give information about the single use plastic they have before entering the Indian waters. In addition, arrests can be made for violation of rules.

As a rule, all items are prohibited on vessels such as plastic bottles, bags, trays, ice cream cups, food packaging film, freezer bags, hot drink cups, milk and shampoo bottles, shopping bags, chips packets, plastic single use utensils. However, 10 liters of water bottles are allowed. Officials have been ordered to check regularly.
