TSRTC employees strike: A conductor commits suicide

Hyderabad, Ta-14 October 2019, Monday

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees have suffered two employees in the ongoing strike for the last nine days. On Sunday a conductor committed suicide by hanging with a ceiling fan in the home. This employee was 50 years old.

Earlier on Saturday, during an anti-state protests, an employee of Srinivas Reddy, who had committed suicide near his home, was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A crowd of TSRTC employees gathered outside the hospital when Reddy was pronounced dead, but police dispersed them all.

These people are demanding that the TSRTC be governmentalized and recruit more staff. Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao made it clear on Saturday that there was no question of negotiating with the workers who were involved in illegal strikes or getting them back to work. He told his officers that alternatively start running other buses and start helping people.

The TSRTC committee called for a ban on October 19 across the state.
