The people of the village of Ravana do not celebrate Dasheera because Ravana is considered a god

Although marriage is paradise, but in one village Arshivad is found only in Ravana. The name of Joganjog village is also Ravana. Ravana devotees of this Ravan village of Nateran taluka of Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh remember Ravana on any auspicious occasion. In this village, when a young man gets married, the first Kankori wedding is written in the name of Ravana and placed in the temple.

To reach this temple of Ravana, one can reach the village in half an hour by traversing the fields. When the children are returning from school, Jai Lankesh holds a slogan near the temple. Ravan village is located about 3 km from the headquarters of Vidisha district. According to locals, this place looks like a normal temple. Inside the temple, there is a 4 foot tall statue of Ravana. There is a saying among the people of the village that if this idol of Ravana is seated, then there will be natural disasters on the village.

Not only in this village but hundreds of people from other villages and other tribes consider Ravan as a deity. A few years ago, people from this area funded and renovated this temple containing the mythical statue of Ravana. Pooja-aarti is performed daily in this temple. On the occasion of marriage, the family elders buy oil at the waist of Ravan's idol and take the rest of the oil home.

In this way, the sacred oil is rubbed on the body of the bride and the bridegroom. This ritual is considered to be a protective shield in the form of Ravana's blessing. Ravana is believed to bless the villagers as a destroyer of evil and misfortune. According to the people of the village, Ravana was a great warrior and scholar, so we worship him with proper respect for Ravana without any prejudice to other deities. That is why we celebrate all the festivals but Dussehra does not.
