Sanjeev Bhatt has very little respect for the court: the High Court

Ahmedabad. 9 October 2019 Wednesday

Pre-IPS In the order dismissing the application for adjournment of officer Sanjiv Bhatt, the Gujarat High Court has noted that Sanjiv Bhatt has very little respect for the court. In the 1990 custodial death case of Jamnagar district, the sessions court sentenced Sanjiv Bhatt to life imprisonment.

An order has been appealed against the order in the High Court. The High Court had on September 25 last dismissed the appeal pending the appeal and the order has been uploaded on Monday. In which these observations are recorded.

In the order denying the application for a life sentence in the custodial death case, the court observed that while appealing the sentence, the prosecution had submitted that the prosecution had adversely affected the trial of some witnesses who did not testify.

In addition there were some other shortcomings in the trial. Therefore, the applicant's sentence should be postponed. Against this, the Public Prosecutor Mitesh Amin from the state government issued the order of the High Court and the Supreme Court in the proceedings of this case and in the other cases against Sanjeev Bhatt that the petitioner Sanjeev Bhatt was abusing the legal process and abusing the court.

Based on these representations, the court noted that the applicant seemed to have little respect for the court and had a habit of abusing the legal process. While dismissing the applicant's bail application in a false narcotics case registered in Palanpur, the court noted that the applicant has little respect for the truth.

The court noted that the absence of witnesses had an adverse effect on the trial that it was a point to consider during the final appeal hearing. From the evidence taken on record and the observations of the Sessions Court, this application cannot be held at the present stage.
