Ration card issuance system will change, Central government attempts to prevent fake card

New Delhi Ta12 October 2019 Saturday

The central government was planning to change the system of issuing ration cards to crush the fraudulent ration card scam found in every corner of the country.

Following the step of attaching the ration card to the Aadhar card number, a system is being developed in which new cards will be issued after de-duplication check. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution was preparing measures to curb the prevailing corruption in the public distribution system.

Secretary of Food and Public Distribution Department Ravi Kant said that ration cards were being checked under de-duplication in some states recently. Once the scheme is implemented, the possibility of bogus ration card will be automatically reduced and we are trying to implement this scheme nationally by the beginning of next year.

We have asked the states to give us details of the number of ration cards in your state. The data will be fed to a central computer and prepared as a national register. New cards will be issued only after de-duplication of each card.
