Police have arrested some suspected youths from Surat city of Gujarat in connection with the killing of Uttar Pradesh Hindu leader Kamlesh Tiwari on Friday. Seven such youths were questioned till late at night.
Lucknow police are likely to come to investigate the case. According to the information received, the police launched an investigation based on CCTV footage. Red alert was announced in Lucknow after the assassination of Kamlesh Tiwari. The checkup lasted Friday night, with a blockade on the spot led by an assistant police commissioner level officer.
In the CCTV footage found by the police, two youths appear near Kamlesh. They had a bag of sweets in their hands. The sweets given to Kamlesh are details of Surat's famous earthworm brand, so the police found a link to the Surat youth involved in the murder.
It is only in this box of sweets that the killers had concealed their weapons and police said. The DGP level police officer is scheduled to address a press conference in Lucknow today at 11am on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a terrorist organization called the Al Hind Brigade claimed responsibility for Kamlesh's murder. He claimed that Kamlesh had insulted Islam and Muslims, so he was killed.
Security forces have no information about the Al Hind Brigade and nothing can be said about it. The police did not give much importance to the organization's claim.
