Islamabad, October 31, 2019, Thursday

In the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, the International Court of Justice has re-struck Pakistan.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, Judge Abdullakawi Yusuf, chairman of the court, said that Pakistan did not comply with the Vienna Convention on Kulbhushan.

The court said that Pakistan did not give Kulbhushan Jadhav all the officials who wanted to meet him under the Vienna Convention. The court frequently referred to the Vienna Convention. The Court said that the Convention does not mention that the person facing charges of espionage does not have consular access.

The court said that Pakistan needed to give Jadhav this benefit in every kind of situation. Even if there is no agreement between the two countries, the person caught should have consular access.

It is worth mentioning that in 2017, the Pakistani military court sentenced Kulbhushan to death for spying. The International Court of Justice ruled that the sentence should be reconsidered.
