Weak students in IIT will get the option to leave the course, study will remain unchanged

New Delhi, September 26, 2019, Thursday

Good news for students of Indian Institute of Technology. Students who are weak in study will be provided a good alternative. Students who are not able to study BTech or if they find that they are weak during the course of study will be given the option to drop the course. That way, the student will be able to leave the course and go to another course instead of failing.

According to the recent change, such students will then be shifted to BSc Engineering course. The matter will be discussed at a council meeting to be held in Delhi on September 27. According to the details, about 3000 students fail in the first semester of BTech at IIT. Gives them the opportunity to retake the IIT exam. But students cannot succeed because of stress. In this case, if he or she exits IIT, they cannot take admission anywhere else. Because of this, some students also commit suicide.

From this semester, IIT management is preparing to shift such weak students to the second semester of BSC Engineering. This degree program will cover six semesters of study. If all 23 IITs agree in the council meeting, the scheme will be implemented from the current session.

In addition, a proposal to extend the one-year extension along with the scholarship will be introduced to the vulnerable students of the reserved class. There will also be a discussion in the council if the ranking of the institutions is reduced. The Human Resource Development Ministry has recently released a report on IIT. It has been reported that more than 2,000 students of IIT have dropped out of study in the last two years. The main reason for this is stress, not understanding in the curriculum.
