Pakistan's jolt, UN president calls Kashmir an internal issue

United Nations, Ta. September 19, 2019, Thursday

Before the UN General Assembly, the UN president has shocked Pakistan by making a very suggestive statement on Jammu and Kashmir. UN President Antonio Guterres said of Kashmir that there was an Indo-Pakistan issue and it had to be resolved internally.

Before the UN General Assembly, UN President Antonio Guterres made the statement that the Jammu and Kashmir issue is internal and that India and Pakistan must be resolved through bilateral dialogue. The president of the United Nations declined to mediate.

He said that the two countries should behave in a manner that upholds human rights values in Kashmir and bilateral dialogue should be taken to ensure that citizens do not have problems. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan demanded mediation from the UN, but rejected the UN's demand for mediation more than once.

On the other hand, the Indian Foreign Ministry said that Article 370 had no agenda in the UN General Assembly. India will surround Pakistan by raising the issue of Pakistan-inspired terrorism. Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said that the UN General Assembly is the forum for discussions on various topics. It requires a more important discussion of the global problem. Article 370 is an internal issue of India and therefore there is no point in discussing it.

Global warming, terrorism, the environment etc. will be discussed in the General Assembly. Prime Minister Modi will address the United Nations session during the US tour. PM Modi will address the session for the second time. Earlier in 2014, Modi addressed the UN General Assembly.
