Bhopal, Ta. September 16, 2019, Monday

Flood conditions are prevailing in several districts of Madhya Pradesh after heavy rains so that some 45,000 people trapped in water were shifted to camps on Sunday.

Madhya Pradesh's flood-hit Mandsaur, Ratlam, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Bhind, Shyapur, Neemuch, Damoh, Raisen and Ashoknagar districts were worked at war speed and around 45,000 people were sheltered in 150 camps.

The government has allocated Rs 100 crore to help people in flood-hit districts to provide shelter to the victims and compensate them for other losses.

In addition, Rs 325 crore has been spent on relief and rescue operations. In the two neighboring districts of western Madhya Pradesh, Mandsaur and Neemuch have been raining heavily for the past few days, causing loss of life.

About 243 mm of rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours till Sunday morning in Mansa village of Neemuch district, a Meteorological Department official said. Due to torrential rains, 13 to 14 thousand people from 100 to 125 villages in Mandsaur district were shifted to safer places and most of the villages were evacuated.

The average rainfall in the Mandsaur should be 742.1 mm from June 1 till now, instead of 1,927.8 mm rainfall. In this way, Nimch also received almost twice as much rainfall, which is a huge problem.
