Imports of computer services in India declined, domestic market developed

The computer service market in India has grown locally, the United Nations reports. From 2010 to 2017, the imports of India's computers and related products have decreased and domestic production has increased instead.

The United Nations report said that imports have fallen as the domestic market for computers and various products related to it has increased in India. In particular, the study conducted from 2010 to 2017 showed that companies producing computer products at the local level have grown during this period. The United Nations also noted that there was a good uptick following the start-up and digital India plans.

The report of the United Nations Trade and Development Conference said that India ranks fourth in the growth rate of instruction and communication. As the usage of computers in small and medium enterprises has increased over the past decade, the domestic market in India has been given more strength.

Reportedly, the computers of imported companies and their related products were relatively expensive, but the general public showed more enthusiasm for buying local products instead.

According to global statistics, the digital economy accounts for four and a half percent of global GDP. According to the UN, India's stake is the highest when it comes to developing countries. India is also ranked 9th in terms of e-commerce.
