Haryana: 75 cows and buffaloes died after eating poisonous grass

Chandigarh, Ta. September 17, 2019 Tuesday

Haryana's National Dairy Institute suspected as many as fifty cows and buffaloes died in the last one week.

According to a report, the milk was given to the cattle for eating poisonous grass. Doctors at the Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly had fled to Karnal soon after receiving the news on Monday. Naresh Kadia, a social worker working for the welfare of the milch cattle, has lodged a complaint with RB Singh, director of the National Dairy Research Institute, and several other officers in the police.

He told the police that the officers of the institute buried all the dead cattle without postmortem to suppress their mistake. There were deliberate attempts to suppress the whole thing.

Doctor RB Singh could not be contacted. His mobile phone used to be switched off, and dairy phones were constantly coming in.

Talking to the media, Naresh told Kadian that as many as fifty cows and buffaloes died prematurely while eating poisonous grass. The institute quietly buried the cattle. The tragedy began last week when three buffalo died, the institute claimed, due to the snake bite. Then the topos disappeared and the buffaloes began to die.

It is a legitimate practice to conduct a postmortem if a large number of milch cattle die under suspicious circumstances which were breached by RB Singh and other officials. This case should be investigated by the police.
