New delhi date. September 14, 2019, Saturday

The parliamentary affairs committee, which is considered to be the two most important Lok Sabha constituencies, has so far been led by the Congress MPs, though now it has been replaced by two BJP MPs. The details of the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs have been updated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

BJP MPs Jayant Sinha and PP Chowdhury have been appointed to lead the finance and parliamentary affairs panel. In the previous Lok Sabha, the post was held by Congress' Veerappa Moily and Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor, who won the Lok Sabha seat in Thiruvananthapuram, has now been made the head of the IT Standing Committee.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who was formerly a member of the foreign affairs panel, has been sent to the defense affairs panel. Headed by Jewel Orum. Similarly, TMC's Derek O'Brien had the leadership of the Transport Committee, which has now been entrusted to TDP leader TG Venkatesh, who has recently joined the BJP.

With this amendment, the Congress leader had earlier two committees but now there will be only one that is led by the Congress. Standing committees are allotted by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. It also takes into account the recommendations of the government.
