Why did Gandhi not hear Nehru's first speech after the country was liberated?

When Jawaharlal Nehru's speech was broadcast from the skyline on August 8, an atmosphere of enthusiasm erupted in the 40 million people of the country. The next day, at 5.00 pm, the tricolor was thrown at the India Gate. Nehru formed a government with three members of the cabinet.

Before the declaration of independence to the country on August 7, Nehru wrote to Gandhi and appealed to him to join in the celebration of independence. Gandhiji then wrote a letter saying, "I cannot come under such circumstances when Hindu Muslims are pouring blood on one another."

I would not hesitate to lay down my life to prevent communal riots. Thus, Gandhi did not join the August 7th celebrations. They were quieting hundreds of miles away in the Noakhali area of Bengal. Jawaharlal Nehru gave a historic speech at the Viceroy Lodge called Trist Vid Ghost, which Gandhi did not hear. After the dividing line was drawn by Radcliffe on August 7, crossing the border and inside began a bloody game. Gandhiji was moving boldly in the Nakhkhali area as part of the calm of these communal riots.
