Unnao wrap case: SC gives CBI 2 weeks to probe, issue order to UP government

The Supreme Court has given CBI more than two weeks to complete the investigation into the case of Unnao rap victim who was injured in the accident. In addition, the court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to provide Rs 5 lakh to a lawyer who was injured in a road accident.

A bench of Justices Deepak Gupta and Justice Anirudh Boss has ordered hearing on a petition demanding that the CBI be given more than four weeks' time.

During the hearing on Monday, the court told the perpetrators and their families, that you refrained from making a public statement as this would only help the accused.

The court also said that if you have anything to say, tell your lawyer to the Supreme Court, we will consider it.

While the victim of the Unnao rap case was going to visit his uncle in Lucknow jail along with his lawyers and family, a truck coming in the opposite direction badly hit his car. The car was badly damaged.

Two of the victim's relatives were killed in the incident while the lawyer and the victim were critically injured. After the incident, the victim was admitted to Kings George Medical College in Lucknow but shifted to AIIMS in Delhi as the situation did not improve.
