Tax on Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) will be reduced, air travel may be cheaper

Given that the central government is planning to reduce taxes on air turbine fuel-ATFs, it is learned that air travel will be a bit cheaper in the near future.

Currently, if any airlines buy ATF from any airport, they have to pay more than one tax like intu plane tax and fuel infrastructure tax.

A senior official of the Center said that the Central Government is currently considering the possibility of reducing such taxes. Air travel is expected to be a bit cheaper if this idea goes into effect. The airlines will save Rs 400 crore a year by reducing this tax.

For this, the central government has constituted a committee comprising representatives of airlines, airports, oil companies and others. The spokesman said the decision would be taken on the basis of the report of this committee.
