People in India are way ahead of Americans in using Internet data on mobile

Due to the cheap Internet plans in India, the number of people using Internet on mobile phones has increased, but data usage on mobile has also increased.

In the year of 2018, every mobile holder consumes an average of 8 GB of internet data per month. That's up 75% over 2017.

India has also surpassed countries like the US, Britain and Singapore in this regard. Americans consume an average of 4 GB per month, South Koreans 6 GB, Japanese 4.5 GB and Singaporean citizens consume 3 GB.

According to a survey by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Internet usage increased by 40 percent in 2018 and mobile Internet was 96 percent cheaper than in 2014.

Earnings for telecom companies increased by 41 per cent to Rs 5,4571 crore in 2018. In terms of average revenue, revenue of companies has increased in 2018 after declining in 2016 and 2017. Airtel earns Rs 127 per customer. Geo earns Rs 122 and Vodafone Rs 108.
