P stayed in CBI's head quarters all night. Chidambaram

New Delhi, Aug 22, 2019, Thursday

Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram said, "I am afraid to be alone at night." An CBI officer stayed with him, refusing to go to jail saying he was scared when he was being questioned on Wednesday night in an INX media case and Chidambaram spent the night at the CBI headquarters.

He was offered a meal but refused to eat.

Chidambaram had been napping for the last 27 hours before his arrest. The Supreme Court had earlier rejected his bail plea before 8 pm, arriving at the Congress headquarters where dozens of party officials spoke to the media after the closure. He returned to his house at Jorbagh around 8.40am. The main gate of the bungalow was closed inside, but CBI officials jumped the wall and went inside.

Another CBI team approached Delhi Police at the back door of the bungalow and Chidambaram was arrested after an hour-long tussle.
