New Delhi, August 30, 2019, Friday

Only Hindu workers can now perform duty at the world renowned Tirupati Balaji Temple.

The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered as many non-Indian employees as possible to quit their jobs in the temple. There are currently about 48 employees in the temple who are non-Hindus who are employed. They have to quit their job following the government's orders.

The government has also ordered an inquiry into all the employees who are on duty at the temple. According to the Chief Secretary of the state, there are some employees in the trust who administer the temple and who have converted from Hinduism to another religion. It is his personal matter. No one can stop them from adopting another religion, but they cannot do Tirupati temple job.

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken such a decision after some Hindu organizations expressed concern over the increasing prosecution of Tirumala. The Chief Secretary of the state also visited the temple recently.
