The Union Home Department has clarified that some rioters threw stones at Kashmir on the 9th of August after the Central Government abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5th.
Supporting the report released by the foreign media, the Home Department, however, also made it clear that the report of the stabbing was true but the report that the security had opened fire was not true. Police dispersed the mob through light sticks and tear gas during a stabbing at Saura area of Srinagar. Foreign reports that someone died or were seriously injured in the shooting are not true.
A spokeswoman for the Home Department said that some rioters threw stones at the mosque and joined the worshipers coming out. Evidently, these people were causing widespread unrest, wanting to provoke people.
Security had dispersed the people using the least force. No one was shot.
