Srinagar, Ta: 14th August 2019, Wednesday

In Jammu and Kashmir, there was no eye transplant or cornea transplant before and the state governments have never taken any interest in this.

But, with changing times, a lawyer named Saleem Qureshi appeared in court and won. After that the Eye Bank was established in Jammu and a special treatment department for cornea transplant and the education department required for it was started. Despite previous wishes, some people were not able to perform posterior vision. Some even called Angadan non-Islamic and prevented those who wanted to make such donations.

Advocate Salim Qureshi attended the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and got an order from the high court to set up an Eye Bank in the state government hospital. After several months of trial, the High Court ordered the state government to set up an Eye Bank in a government hospital. Six people were benefited from GMC Hospital after the establishment of Eye Bank.

Salim Qureshi eliminated the prevailing misconceptions about organ donation or eye donation among people who were not deterred and moved people to the spotlight.
