Iran: A 24-year-old prisoner convicted of raping a burqa

Tehran, August 29, 2019, Thursday

An Iranian court has sentenced a 24-year-old prison officer to a Muslim woman who appealed to Muslim women to openly protest against burqa. Afsari was running this movement on social media.

The woman was earlier detained in August 2018. The court then sentenced him to one year in jail but he was released in February 2019 due to a hoax in the world.

Subsequently, the Afsari started his own White WEDNESDAY movement. He called on Muslim women to publicly come out of the burqas. Don't be afraid. The world is with you. This movement was also known as women empowerment. In the first two weeks of the movement, 200 videos were posted and five lakh people watched it. Soon the Tehran Revolutionary Court ordered the arrest of an officer and sentenced him to 24 years in prison.

Earlier, hundreds of women were jailed. The court said that women who participated in the agitation will be sentenced to one to ten years in jail so everyone can participate in the agitation at their own risk. In a single week, 12 women were sentenced to prison.
