Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Badhel announced in a program on Independence Day that from now on, the scheduled tribes in Chhattisgarh will get 32 percent reservation, 13 percent for the Scheduled Castes and 27 percent for the backward castes.
"I am making this announcement because of the guarantee given to the development of these people in the Constitution," he said. Chhattisgarh has a large population of tribals compared to other states of the country.
He also announced the construction of the Lamuru Elephant Reserve at a place that elephants love as part of solving the problem of wild elephants. He claimed that this would be the first elephant sanctuary in the world.
