How did Gilani's Internet continue despite the ban in Jammu and Kashmir? Two BSNL officers under suspicion

Srinagar, Ta. Monday 19th August 2019

Action has been taken on two BSNL officers for tweeting separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani despite Article 144 applicable in Jammu and Kashmir and banning the Internet. Two BSNL officers are surrounded by Gilani for providing Internet access despite being blocked from communication service.

The government shut down internet and phone services in the valley following security clearance after removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The facility was blocked from August 4, but separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani had landline and internet service for 8 days.

According to sources, officials do not even know whether Gilani was accessing the Internet in Kashmir or he tweeted from his account. An investigation was launched into how Gilani was able to access the Internet and landline. BSNL has taken action on two officers in this regard. Geelani's service was stopped to find out about the loop holes of the officers.
