At least four people were killed in an accident at a temple on Friday morning at a temple in the northern pargana district of West Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said four people were killed and five others were injured due to a break-up at Kutchua Loknath Temple. Mamata Banerjee announced to pay Rs five lakh for the families of the deceased.

According to reports, a large crowd of people gathered at the Kachua Loknath Temple premises early on Friday and suddenly it started raining. In order to avoid the rain, people had to resort to a temporary bamboo stall raised there.

Due to heavy rains, one of the stalls collapsed so that people panicked and started running. Since the place was very narrow, a few people dug in the lake near the temple so that the fortunes of the people had increased.

Mamata Banerjee hospitalized the injured with special focus on relief and rescue work. In addition, he announced a compensation of Rs one lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 3,000 to those who suffered minor injuries.

It is worth mentioning that every year during this period a large number of people gather at the Loknath Temple to celebrate the birth day of Loknath Brahmachari. Senior ministers were sent to the hospital following the incident and two of the injured are in critical condition.
