Augusta Westland Case: Ratul Puri arrested

New Delhi, August 20, 2019, Tuesday

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Ratul Puri, the nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, for questioning in the Augusta Westland case.

When he was called to the Enforcement Directorate last month for questioning, he fled the toilet excuse. He repeatedly tried to escape the inquiry, ignoring the court's order directing him to cooperate with the CBI investigation. The ED was eventually arrested in a fraudulent case with the bank.

Today, the Delhi High Court Ratul is expected to hear the petition on bail. Earlier, Rouse Avenue Court had rejected his anticipatory bail application. However, the investigating agency urged the court to quash the bail application and said that despite the court order, Rakul does not cooperate with the inquiry and investigation and therefore he should not be granted bail. As a relative of a senior Congress leader, it is likely that he will leave the country after being granted bail.
