Another threat to mankind, plastic is raining

Acid rain is occasionally caused by airborne pollution, but research in the United States has revealed that startling plastic is now raining.

In a study carried out by researchers from the Geological Survey of America and the Department of the Interior, plastic was not visible to the eye, but microscopes and digital cameras revealed plastic particles in the rain.

Of the samples taken as part of the survey, 90 percent of the samples contained plastic particles were in the form of plastic fibers. In urban areas, the proportion of plastics in rural areas has been found to be high. Plastic particles have also been seen in the samples of the mountainous area 10,400 feet above sea level.

Although researchers have not yet known where plastic is coming from, this research is just one example of how serious the problem is because of the increasing use of plastic around the world.

Previously in southern France, rain particles along with plastic have also been observed.

Another study found out that people who are unaware of food are ingesting five grams of plastic in their stomachs every week.

The researchers involved in the study say that there is more plastic everywhere than we can see. Now it has become part of the environment. 90% of plastic waste is not recycled and is slowly being turned into small pieces. Even when you wash your clothes, plastic fibers are also loose. Plastic particles are mixed in the atmosphere. It then becomes involved in water droplets. With the rain it falls to the ground and with the flowing water it becomes involved in rivers, lakes, oceans and ground water.
