Two Naxals surrender in Chhattisgarh

(PTI) Dantewada, Ta. July 21, 2019, Sunday

In Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, two Naxals have surrendered to the police, tired of the hollow Maoist ideology and the hard life of the jungle, and have expressed their desire to live a meaningful life in the mainstream.

Hidama Mandvi and Mongu Mandvi surrendered to Dantewada police superintendent Abhishek Pallava on Saturday evening.

Hidma Madvi was a member of the CPI (M), the outlawed outlawing party in 1997, and was in charge of the rebel supply team in the district. Police arrested him in 2017 when he was buying clothing and explosives for Maoists.

After he was released after serving three months in prison, senior rebels had entrusted him with the supply team in charge. A reward of three lakh rupees was announced for Hidma while another was a member of the Conscious Natya Mandal, which operates as a cultural branch of the Maoists in Naxali Ghumiapal village.
