Australian Legend Reveals Ian Chapel: Fighting Skin Cancer

Sydney, Ta. 18 July 2019, Thursday

Ian Chappell, an Australian legendary cricketer and popularly known as commentator for some time, has revealed to himself that he has been battling skin cancer for some time. Ian Chappell, who was suffering from a serious illness, was treated with intensive radiotherapy for five weeks.

7-year-old Ian Chapel had cancer removed from the shoulders, throat and down the shoulders. The English newspaper reports that Ian Chapel suffered a knee injury in the lower left shoulder in August last year and was diagnosed with cancer during his treatment. After this the expert doctors decided to give them more intensive treatment. He underwent multiple surgeries and was given radio therapy five days a week.

However, after treatment, Ian Chapel's pathology reports have come out clear and he is preparing to comment on the Ashes Test starting in Birmingham on August 1st. He met both of his brothers and their families last week. In the meantime his radiotherapy continued.

Ian Chappell, who scored 6 runs in 5 Tests for Australia from 1 to 5, said, "During the ongoing struggle against skin cancer, I was ready for death. I have had skin cancer effects in more than one place in the body. The doctors did what they could to cut, burn, and other ways. When you get closer to 5, you start to think that, Christ, the end is near. But I saw my mother Jane's final moments and then realized, death is something you have to deal with. When Richie (Beno) and Tony (Greg) depart, they remember again that this is going to happen to everyone.

The chapel grew up, hiding his cancer talk from many, because he did not know how the radiotherapy would be affected. However, this did not cause particular problems. Often at night, the fatigue may sometimes be irritating to the skin. It looks a lot better now though. I've called the broadcaster and said, "If you need me, I'm ready.
