Thailand airport: 100 live animals including 50 tortoises, 35 turtles found in two Indian women's bags

Two Indian women have been arrested at a Thai airport for trying to smuggle more than 100 live animals into India.

100 live animals including 20 live snakes, 35 turtles, 50 ticks were found from these women. Two thin ghos, however, were found dead.

The two women, Nitya Raj and Zakia Sultana, were about to catch a flight from Bangkok airport when the animals were found in their bags in an X-ray machine. Now the police have arrested him.

Thailand is considered a major transit hub for animal smuggling. From here such animals are taken to Vietnam or China. Where they are used to make traditional medicines.

Even in India, such animals are sold at high prices. This type of smuggling is often reported at airports in Thailand. The value of the captured animals is estimated to be around Rs 44 lakh.
