Kanhaiyalal's assassination in Udaipur, Rajasthan has shaken the entire country. The accused in the murder had killed tailor Kanhaiyalal for posting in support of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Another such incident is that a few days ago, a week before the murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur, 54-year-old chemist Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe was brutally murdered in Amravati district of Maharashtra on June 21 for posting in support of Nupur Sharma. Officials investigating the case now believe that Kolha was killed because of a social media post allegedly made in support of BJP's Nupur Sharma who made controversial remarks about the Prophet Mohammad in a TV debate. Mudassir Ahmed and 25-year-old Shah Rukh Pathan were arrested on June 23 in a preliminary investigation at the City Kotwali Police Station in Amravati following a complaint by Umesh Kolha's son Sanket Kohli.

Four more people were implicated during their interrogation. Three of them, Abdul Tawfiq (24), Shoaib Khan (22) and Atib Rashid (22), were arrested on June 25. Apart from this, Shamim Ahmed is absconding. The incident took place between 10:00 pm and 10:30 pm on June 21 when Umesh Kolha was on his way home after closing his shop Amit Medical Store.

The attack was carried out in the middle of the road

Sanket said in his police complaint that two people riding on a motorcycle suddenly came in front of my father's Scooty. He stopped my father's bike and stabbed one of them in the left side of the neck. My father fell and started bleeding. I stopped my scooter and screamed for help. Another man arrived and the trio fled the scene on a motorcycle. With the help of bystanders, Kolhe was taken to the nearby Exxon Hospital where he died.

Posted in support of Nupur Sharma

During the investigation, it was learned that Kolha had posted a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma on WhatsApp. He had mistakenly posted a message to a group with Muslim members who were also his customers. One of the arrested accused said that it was an insult to the Prophet and therefore he should die.
