Despite the September 15 deadline, IT website's shortcomings remain

New Delhi: Despite the completion of the September 15 deadline given to Infosys by the government, the problems faced by taxpayers in the new website of the Income Tax Department have not been completely resolved. According to the tax experts who use this website frequently, the website is still facing difficulties in some works.

According to experts, three months after the launch of the new website, rectifications for the filed returns are still not submitted. Refund status cannot be checked. In addition, a refund reissue request cannot be filed. Besides, ITRs filed before the assessment year 2016-17 cannot be seen.

The new website was launched on June 7. Taxpayers have been facing many difficulties since the first day of its launch. In 2016, Infosys was tasked with launching a new Income Tax Department website.

On August 9, the finance ministry summoned Infosys CEO Salil Parekh to meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. After a meeting with the finance minister, Infosys was given till September 15 to rectify all the flaws in the website.
