According to a report released by the Indian Navy on Friday, it has added to its fleet a state-of-the-art anti-torpedo missile system 'Marich' which can be seen from all front-line warships. This missile system will help the navy thwart any type of torpedo attack.

The 'Marich' system, developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), is capable of identifying and destroying attacking torpedoes. The Navy said that the model of the system, which was installed on a specific naval platform, successfully passed all the experimental evaluation tests and passed all the specialty demonstrations in accordance with the naval staff criteria requirements.

According to the Navy, the inclusion of 'Marich' is a testament to the joint commitment of the Navy and DRDO towards the development of indigenous defense technology and a major step towards the government's 'Make in India' initiative and the country's commitment to technology self-reliance.

This subversive system will be manufactured by Defense Enterprise Bharat Electronics Limited. Today the Indian Navy has achieved great success in anti-submarine warfare capability, with an agreement being reached for a state-of-the-art torpedo destroyer Marich capable of striking from all front-line warships.
